How to manage it with a lifestyle change?


  • Switch to a healthy and balanced diet. Emphasis on home made food should be given , cutting down on processed and ready to eat food

  • Eat every 3 hours

  • Increase healthy fats intake like dry fruits, flaxseeds , sunflower seeds etc

  • Do any kind of physical activity, be it walking, jogging , dancing , yoga etc

  • Add turmeric tea in your daily diet as it is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties and can help manage PCOD

  • Cinnamon improves metabolism and help you regulate menstrual cycle

  • Zinc is beneficial for reproductive system and help you control abnormal hair growth. Zinc is found in whole grains , eggs , nuts , fish and legumes

  • Have a diet low in GI which improves insulin level

  • Make good quality protein like eggs , pulses , low fat cheese , legumes , lean meat a part of your daily diet

  • Avoid milk products, refined flour, artificial sweeteners, excess salt and processed foods completely

  • Keep yourself hydrated. Drink at least 2-3 litres of water every day

Even a 10 percent loss in body weight can restore a normal period and make your cycle more regular. Though PCOD cannot be cured completely, but making some changes in your diet and regular exercise can be very helpful in managing the PCOD symptoms.
